Mon Canadien will finish second due to a strong solid lineup. Pickering has made the jump with the additions of key free agents and will challenge the top two. Ottawa has a solid lineup but also have some questions with some of the players. Hamilton has an emerging star but there are too many holes to compete with the elite company of this division. BC will be much improved from last year but that will still only amount to last place in this division - they will push Hamilton and Ottawa, though. Tatone Division Quebec is stacked and ready to keep pace with the conference elite. Pittsburgh has developed another quality team and will push Quebec but second is in the cards. Woodbine has a well rounded lineup and will make the playoffs with its strongest showing in recent years. Toronto still has a strong core to build from and, if lucky with some players, will push the top two. Perennial powerhouse Mon Beavers have some rebuilding to do but do have some solid young players - they could challenge for a playoff spot. The New York Rangers did not have much luck with in the free agent draft and are looking at a last place finish - unless their goaltending comes up very big. Low Conference Mangos Division Las Vegas is clearly the team to beat and they are solid all around. Defending President Trophy winner Philadelphia will push Vegas and could win the conference title again. The recently moved Florida team is still capable of a strong showing but some inconsistent players will not allow them to move back in the cream of the elite. Etobicoke has pieced together another strong outfit and they will make the playoffs. Louisiana has the young guns but not enough ammo to make the grade. They will finish fifth, building on their core. North Bay has some good young talent but little else. Lim Division New York Islanders will be the toast of the division and a contender for the Cup with their strong solid lineup. Edmonton looks to regain their Cup winning form and need Dafoe to bring them back to elite status, but they are a solid contender. San Antonio is led by Belfour and will sneak in as the best of the worst. Arizona did not want to spend, and it shows. Kingston needs key performances from key players to compete. Portland has potential but not enough talent to go around. Pre-season power rankings: 1. Boston Bruins 2. Quebec Nordiques 3. Montreal Canadien 4. Las Vegas Oddsmakers 5. Philadelphia Flyers 6. New York Islanders 7. Pickering Power Plant ----------------------------------------- |
